The best time to grow the Nishigandha plant in pots is the Spring season (Feb- April) when there is no chance of frost and the plant can get a good amount of sunlight as well.

Also, Nishigandha is a 365 days flowering plant so it keeps flowering season after season except in winters it keeps on blooming all year long.

Things required to grow it?

A 6-inch pot

Take a container that is at least 6 inches deep, as the bulbs of Nishigandha are sown deep inside the soil.

Make a few holes at the bottom of this container for proper flow of air and allow excess water to drain out easily.

Potting Soil

Nishigandha plant requires well-draining and rich potting soil to grow. For this you should make potting soil with the following composition:

Growing Nishigandha Flower (Step by Step Process)

Just follow these simple steps to grow it:

Firstly cover the holes in the potting soil with stone so that only water can pass through it and not the potting soil.

After this fill it with the potting soil that you have made or bought.

Now, you need to plant the bulb. For this use a stick to make a hole in the soil (6 cm deep) and then insert the bulb in the hole and carefully fill the hole with potting soil.

Now, lightly water the soil and keep the pot in a location where it can receive indirect sunlight all day long.

Once the plant starts to grow and the sapling gets to a height of 3-4 inches, you can then move it to direct sunlight.

Nishigandha Plant Care

Sunlight Full Direct Sunlight (4-5 hours)
Watering Moderate (only when the top layer dries up)
Potting Soil Rich & Well Draining

Regular Repotting

Nishigandha plant is prone to root bound, as it grows very long roots and when grown inside the pot (enclosed environment) it is very prone to getting root bound.

If you experience that your plant has suddenly stopped growing even after providing fertilizer and providing it full care.

Then you should take it out of the pot carefully and look for the roots.

If you see that the roots have grown immensely and have made a circle all around the potting soil it is time to repot it into a bigger-sized pot.

Because of root boundness, the plant is not able to take nutrition and water from the soil and ceases to grow.

And this is very common with Nishigandha, so always keep a check on it and repot as soon as you see it.

Feed it with Fertilizer

Nishigandha plant requires a good amount of fertilization to bloom, if you fail to feed it with good fertilizer it will not be able to produce flowers.
